Sickboy

Join hosts Jeremie, Brian, and Taylor as they hangout and have an unapologetic, unpolished and unfiltered discussion about what it's like to live life with a disease, in the hopes of finding humour in an otherwise taboo and sometimes dark subject.

This FGF starts off with a bang and quickly goes down the sh*tter. Tay slept in, Jeremie introduced a questionable character at a fundraiser, Lauren sprays coffee out of her eyeball and Brian legitimately almost vomits. Google image search "fatberg" and imagine how it smells. Then we get into something far more intellectual and important than all of that bullsh*t. We speak to Dr. Susan Prentice, a professor of sociology at the University of Manitoba, specializing in childcare policy and advocacy. We dive into the nuanced and tricky decision to open schools up fully during a global pandemic and how childcare is most certainly a social determinate of health!

This week Jeremie bursts a vein over a group of dumb-dumbs protesting in Toronto about not wanting to wear masks. Also, it turns out COVID-19 can give you a boner. Not a fun time happy boner but more of a painful priapism (dare ya to google it). Yikes. Then we discuss the now not so booming business of house cleaning in your birthday suit. Needless to say, COVID-19 has destroyed fun all around the world and the health authority is now encouraging you to scream inside your heart.

Melissa Humana-Paredes and Alex Hyndman both had dreams of representing their country while competing in their career sport! Melissa, a beach volleyball badass and Alex, a para-cycling beast! Those dreams were put on hold when Canada became one of the first nations to pull out their athletes from the upcoming 2020 Olympics due to concerns over the pandemic. The rest of the world followed suit and the games have been postponed to 2021. If all goes well.

This week we bring to you a doubleheader and speak to the athletes who were affected by this decision and what it means to maintain an Olympic physique during a worldwide lockdown. Thanks to the Canadian Olympic Committee & Canadian Paralympic Committee for giving us a glimpse into the lives of some of Canadas most impressive humans!
