Sickboy

Join hosts Jeremie, Brian, and Taylor as they hangout and have an unapologetic, unpolished and unfiltered discussion about what it's like to live life with a disease, in the hopes of finding humour in an otherwise taboo and sometimes dark subject.

I set out to open my eyes to the world, but came back nearly blinded by it.”

What do you do when you're in a third world country and you get an eye infection that goes from bad to the absolute worst?

This week we sit down with Kevin to talk about his experience of Biking from Vancouver to Central America only to end up with the one eye infection to rule them all! One minute everything is fine, then next minute he has pulled over because his vision is rapidly deteriorating.

This episode is chock full of adventure, gag inducing eye j**z, and life altering experiences.

As always this wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for our amazing listeners. We rely on you to keep this project going! If you'd like to add to that please consider supporting us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/sickboy

When you're 5'7" weighing it at only 90lbs, something's gotta give. From in-patient hospital programs, tapping your feet as sneaky exercise, and a relationship with healthy eating that goes above and beyond reality, Catherine's been through a lot. On a mission to heal her mind and repair her body, Catherine opens up about what it's like to live with an eating disorder that tries to trick her at every turn.

Tune in this week for a special episode on Mental Illness. With Bell Let's Talk coming up on Wednesday, it is not only important for us to talk about Mental Illness, but also to listen intently to those who speak up. Let's talk about it.

One of the first beautiful people we were able to speak with on the show, and no doubt, one of the most inspiring. Layton was truly a man of passion. It spewed (he'd like that word) from every pore.

He taught us the most important lesson on the human condition: We will always take life for granted. It is in the moments that we realize this, that we are able to truly live, until we inevitable slip back into the routine, the day to day, to be awoken once again.

You made an impact like you wouldn't believe. You used social media in the way we should all take note of: To inspire passion and thoughtfulness, reflection and introspection in us all. Your lasting impression on us will be the grace with which you saw death. As a beautiful chapter that we will all someday endure.

Live now, for you are alive. Love and laugh now, for you are alive. And when you forget the living, the loving and the laughing, you will remember it again as if for the first time. And it will be beautiful.

When Mark has a grand mal seizure at SXSW in downtown Ausitn, TX his life was forever changed. One moment all is normal, the next moment waking up on a gurney covered in blood and beginning his long no holds barred fist fight with Brain Cancer.

Mark and Jeremie hunker down in a small hut on the beaches of Maui and dive deep into living with Terminal Brain Cancer. A love story worthy of the silver screen, contemplation of the realities of life and what comes after death, and of course music. Mark is a prolific music critic and blogger. While recounting his life pre and post cancer he weaves in and out of his favourite songs of the time.

if you think you've waited a long time in the emergency room, John Ross has been there 25 years, slowly but surely pulling odd objects out of people's buttholes.

But in all seriousness we spent some time out at the beautiful and majestic Shobac Cottages/Studio's in Riverport Nova Scotia for an intimate live living room show to chat with Dr John Ross about his career as the head of the ER at the QEII hospital. We dive deep into everything from weird objects in butts, to managing crimson hot rage towards patients, to calling a Code Orange... TWICE!?! (Not sure what a code orange is? Let's just say it Ain't Nuttin ta F**k Wit.) This is a very special episode and John has and still does some incredible work. It truly was an honour to speak with him!

Jeremie turns 29 years old today and he has a birthday wish that we need you to help make come true!

Since we've started this project we've had countless emails, letters, and messages from listeners like yourself telling us about how Sickboy Podcast has impacted your lives. For Jeremie's 29th birthday all he wants is to put faces to the names for a little project we are working on.

Has Sickboy Podcast impacted your life in some way big or small? If so we want to hear from you! Here are the rules: take 5 minutes of your day to record a video on your phone. Horizontal videos only, DUH! Start the video with "Sickboy Podcast has impacted my life by..." and fill in the rest! It can be sincere, it can be silly, it can be whatever as long as it's true to how you feel!

We love each and every one of you! And hey, if you're in Halifax we're celebrating Jeremie's big day at Good Robot Brewing Company! Swing by after 9:30PM tonight for a beer and a cough or two!

What happens when you're one of the first cases of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in your home town? A whole bunch of f**kery that's what!

This week on Sickboy we sit down with Jess and talk about her experience in dealing with a nasty case of "Super Bug"! We talk about everything from the weird names children call vagina, the horrendous origin story of a flesh eating bacteria, disgustingly horrendous visions of lancing boils on youtube, endless sexual innuendo's and much much more. Oh and of course, Happy Birthday Wanda!
